ANTHURIUM VARIETIES IN PLANTER
A flowering Anthurium in a 22cm ceramic container.
Anthuriums are adored for their flowers and glossy green leaves. Originating from tropical Central and South America, Anthuriums prefer warm, humid environments and bright, filtered light.
They do not tolerate direct sunlight, and exposure can cause bleaching of the leaves. A lack of light can cause the plant to tip over, with yellow or pale foliage and less frequent blooms. Optimal growth and months of flowering can be achieved by providing consistent, moderate light.
Key Characteristics:
- Flowers: Bright red, heart-shaped spathes, long-lasting.
- Foliage: Dark green, glossy, sometimes bronze new growth.
- Growth Habit: Upright and bushy, often grown in pots.
Care Instructions:
- Light: Bright, indirect light; avoid direct sun to prevent bleaching.
- Watering: Keep soil moist but not soggy; allow the top 2-3cm to dry between watering.
- Humidity: Prefers high humidity; mist leaves or use a pebble tray.
- Soil: Use a well-draining mix, adding coir peat for moisture retention.
- Fertilizer: Feed every 6 weeks during growing seasons.
- Temperature: Warm conditions, avoid frost.
