I designed my own bouquet with flowers that were in season in Brisbane. I designed a large, gorgeous shower bouquet of oriental lilies, Singapore orchids, blue delphinium, roses & lisianthus. We decided the attendants would wear wrist corsages as it was an outdoor wedding and the feeling was more relaxed. We used Singapore orchids and dodda vine for the flowers. There were a few of reasons for this, firstly I had Singapore orchids in my bouquet so it continued the theme and they last so well out of water and suit the Brisbane climate and the colours they are available in are fantastic. Sue had mostly purple with some green orchids, while Trish had the reverse of mostly green with some purple. For the boys we chose ties that complemented the girls’ dresses with green, purple and some brown. Their buttonholes matched their female attendant. Joe had a purple orchid and Neil wore green. At the rotunda we had two large gold pots at the stair entrance and a smaller gold pot on the bench behind the ceremony. These had the same flowers. The guests were entertained with a String Trio at the rotunda in New Farm Park, followed by drinks & heart biscuits with K & B in icing. Cake – Gina D’Arcy from Cakes Actually made cup cakes in three different flavours with a small traditional cake at the top of the tier all covered in flowers. Reception – Gorgeous canapés & and champagne all night with great dance music. All my friends in the industry made the day so wonderful. I knew I had to have Marcus Bell as my photographer, Heather for my dress, Watt for the reception, my friend Dorothy as the celebrant and Gina for the cakes. We wanted a lot of friends, a thousand fairy lights & a thousand flowers. We got more than we hoped for; it was fantastic, the best night of our lives.
